The men's and women's basketball tournaments should feature 25% of the participating teams in the sport, according to a 40-page final report from the NCAA's transformation committee that was distributed to several media members after a year-long schedule of meetings.

To put things in perspective, 68 teams, or approximately 19% of the 350 programs in the sport, compete in men's and women's basketball tournaments.

The number of teams participating would increase by about 20 if the competitions reached the 25% criterion, bringing the total to 90 from 68.

“Why in the world would an NCAA group want to change what has been fantastic? Their idea for expansion is ALL $$$ related. The @MarchMadnessMBB is super - fix the many other problems that exist with the ⁦@NCAA,” Vitale tweeted.
